Why Meditation is good to Practice.


Many people have a very slight knowledge on what meditation is and why it is beneficial to practice it. Perceptions of it being time consuming and having to completely shut off your mind and have no thoughts may put you off completely, But is this information actual facts?

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a way of relaxing and calming your mind. By this you are learning to control your breathing and gain control of your thoughts and feelings through your consciousness and allowing them to pass by acknowledging them and their content.

Meditation also helps to release of negative feelings due to past events and can help you to let go and to be in the present moment.

A few types of Meditation

There are many different types of meditation including these simple 5;

Mindfulness Meditation- Concentrates on feelings and sensations such as breathing. It works on being in the present moment.

Focused Meditation- Concentrate on your 5 senses and works to enhance them. Can use a candle to stare into or an object, noise to focus on.

Movement Meditation- Visualisation, picturing yourself in calm places and enhancing your third eye and making you aware of surroundings.

Mantra Meditation- This meditation concentrates on a repetitive humming noise to grow deeper awareness of surroundings it can be out loud or internally.

Transcendental Meditation- Is one of the most popular and scientifically studied. It is an around the world meditation that is for people who like routine and are serious about meditation thoroughly. Using words thats are personal to you to concentrate and meditate with.
